Stepping back from the World to Winter xo

This tiny love letter is a story about wintering and healing, and why I’m doing it, and how it can help you.

ree

If you’re in my shoes, you might feel like everything in our big, beautiful world feels a little too overwhelming. For me, in my tiny, little life, I need to take a step back from it all and heal. I feel like we’re all carrying the wounds of the whole world, and we need some deep and nourishing healing. And that’s what I’m doing this winter. I won’t delve into the state of the world… you know. We all know.

Please, if you reach out to me and I take a few days to respond, know that I will respond eventually, I promise, though it might take a few days. And also know that, this winter at least, I’m wintering. Which means that I’m hunkering down, exploring classical living (nature, beauty, arts, learning, tea) and am healing myself. And hopefully, when I emerge in the Spring, I will be more alive, nourished, and present to help the world around us.

This deepening and spiritual healing will be a part of my beingness, and my work, with you this winter, as well. Because I’m coming from this deep, healing perspective.

Beauty, art, and tea?

This winter I’m journeying into a classical experience of life, which means getting into nature, lighting candles, listening to beautiful music, looking at art, reading good books, and giving to the community. It’s what Autumn Kern says is… like engaging with the greatest experiences that God has to offer, which is the most beautiful art on Earth, the most beautiful music, etc. And blending that with naturalism and academia.

It’s like deciding that the coziness of fall will be your entire life for eight months. I’m wearing winter dresses and sweaters, working on calligraphy, making art, and engaging with my child while he’s still small and open to me.

It’s like if you could blend an opera with a forest, add some meditation and chocolate, art and handwork, live it on a hike, and feel like you’re truly experiencing life. That is it.

This approach started recently when I was pondering the meaning of life in our technical age. Kind of like… If AI takes the tasks, then why are we here? And then… Why are we here? Which lead to “What does it mean to be here?” and “How can I truly live?” Within my own natural constraints and the world around us?

This is, truly, the work I do with my clients.

Many of my clients are stuck and want to crack open their routines so that they can experience even just a tiny bit more joy and contentment or, better, a lot more joy and happiness. So that they can truly live. They just want to share in that incredible experience of really living, and transforming their lives and energy so that they can step into the beauty of life.

And, for me, it’s a bit radical. Going to a forest isn’t radical per se, but it feels that way when you’re stuck in traffic, doesn’t it? Or when your daily life is almost 110% about other people. And life is overwhelming. And violence seems the norm. And you’re stuck in it and can’t seem to get out.

What about you?

To begin this journey, so I would know where to go to find myself again, I made a map of 50 dreams and how I want to live. Then I created a general weekly schedule for that kind of living. I chose books to read. And I use the Legend Planner to make sure I actually practice the journey. If I can accomplish 30% of what I’m dreaming, then that is a life much better experienced and lived. It’s a win.

My list this Winter includes:

  • Making soap

  • Getting better at Calligraphy

  • Walking in the forest

  • Getting my family to Venice

  • Reading

  • Playing the piano

  • Finishing the dollhouse

  • Deepening my intuitive skills and techniques

What would be on your list?

So that’s it; I’m just unhooking this outer, chaotic world from my Being this winter and living a… different kind of life. If you have book recommendations for me, parks you love and think I should visit, museums I should see, or any suggestions for things that truly moved your heart that you think I should look into, please send me your suggestions.

I’d love to expand this “truly experiencing the beauty of life,” journey, so I’m open to your ideas if you have them. Even favorite restaurants or cheeses and desserts that you love. What is it that, when you experienced it, made you think “I’m really, truly alive,”?

Sending you love from my Wintering Wonderland,

  • Paige xo
