OK, do you want to have a lot of fun with your friends? Organize a Vision Board making party. It’s SO MUCH FUN! Lots of emphasis here because you get to make art, leave with something beautiful and meaningful, and you get the balls rolling energetically in terms of manifesting your reality and longed-for destiny.
A vision board is like knocking on fate’s door and showing her what you’d like to experience this time around. And fate is like a delighted parent who’s so happy you showed up and showed her your dreams and wishes. It’s a win-win.
Why do Vision Boards Work?
No one really knows exactly how manifestation works, and that’s the truth. We have ideas, but if there were a surefire method, our lives would be drastically different. However, I think they work because…
They’re a physical way of arranging energy and creating a two-dimensional altar. And an altar is like a direct line to the divine. When you’re organizing a vision board, you’re putting your dreams into the physical world, taking them from your heart and mind and turning them into your reality… your physical world. This tiny energetic shift is like a seed that, often, bears fruit.
Also, making vision boards is fun and creative, and adding joy to manifestation work is like… it’s just very powerful. One of the key ingredients to manifesting is adding joy while you’re doing it. Making art is inherently meaningful and joyful.
Vision Board Success Story
Three years ago I put a picture of a Golden Retriever in a party hat on my vision board, even though my husband was a hard no in terms of another dog. (We have to decide on animals mutually–it’s one of our agreements.) I put the dog on there, put the vision board up and, about a month later, asked him about the dog. To my huge surprise he said a simple “sure.” Soon thereafter I found the avenue toward our dog who was, coincidentally, born in my birthday month.
Making Vision Boards is Easy
All you need are
Magazines
Pens
Glue
and large pieces of paper
(The best glue is rubber cement, followed by glue sticks.)
Go through your magazines and take out all of the images that call to your heart. They can be literal, like seeing an image of a beach with white sands and wanting to go to Hawaii, or they can be metaphorical, where the same image simply means more travel and discovery.
If you like, you can take your pens and draw what you’d like, or write it down on the vision board as well.
When you’re done and proud of your work of art and beauty, you can either hang it somewhere where you’ll see it regularly, or tuck it away somewhere.
I recommend admiring it for a few days or weeks, then tucking it away where you won’t see it. That way you’re not looking at it and longing for things that you don’t have, or putting pressure on the universe to create them. You have to forget and let go and let the universe do its work.
Then much, much later, come back to the vision board and compare it to your life. What came through? How have you changed?
